Android / Google Play edition

Island Reader is a reading and read-aloud app operated by zhengzhou luyaolab co., ltd. (luyaolab, "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy covers the Android app distributed through Google Play and explains how information is handled when you use it.

1. Information We Process

Island Reader is designed as a local-first reader. The app processes the following on your device to provide reading, listening, search and note-taking:

Your library and reading data are primarily stored on your device. The current Android edition does not provide automatic cloud synchronization of your library or notes. The online features below have separate data flows.

The Google Play edition does not currently require a separate Island Reader account. Purchase-related identifiers and records can nevertheless be processed off your device.

2. Local Book Content and Wi-Fi Transfer

Importing a book does not by itself upload its complete contents to our servers. Online narration processes text as explained below.

When you enable Wi-Fi transfer, a local-network service allows your devices to list, import, download or delete library files. It uses HTTP and does not provide TLS transport encryption. Use it only on a trusted private network, keep its access information private and close the transfer screen when finished. This feature does not host your books on our cloud servers.

3. Online Narration and System Voices

When you use online AI narration, the text being read and upcoming segments prepared for continuous playback are sent to a third-party speech service, together with voice and speech settings and request identifiers. The service also receives connection information such as your IP address. The connection is encrypted; generated audio is returned for playback and may be cached on your device.

Reading locally does not require online narration. Do not submit confidential text you do not want an external provider to process. Selecting a system voice passes text to your device's installed text-to-speech engine. Some system voices also require a network connection; their processing depends on the selected engine.

Speech providers apply their own service and retention rules. We do not promise zero retention, that every system voice operates offline, or that deleting local audio removes all provider records.

4. Purchases and Membership

Google Play processes payments. RevenueCat verifies purchases, restores entitlements and manages membership status. Relevant data includes purchase tokens and history, product identifiers, price and currency, entitlement status and a RevenueCat-generated anonymous App User ID. Technical information can include device model, operating system, app/SDK versions, language and connection information such as IP addresses. An anonymous identifier can still link purchase records.
