Island Reader is an EPUB, PDF, and text reader with read-aloud features developed by luyaolab. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Island Reader.
Island Reader is designed as a local-first reader. To provide reading, listening, highlighting, note-taking, search, and sync features, the app may process the following information on your device:
Book files and note contents are stored locally unless you enable iCloud sync. Online read-aloud, purchase verification and usage analytics involve the processing described below.
Your complete imported book files are not uploaded to luyaolab servers. Reading content is processed only as needed to provide the features you choose.
When you use online AI read-aloud, the text segments needed for narration, voice and speech settings are sent to an online speech service provider to generate audio. This is separate from Firebase Analytics: reading text is not sent to Firebase. Using an available on-device system voice avoids this online AI speech request.
If you use Wi-Fi transfer, files are transferred over your local network directly to the app while the transfer screen is active. luyaolab does not host, store, or inspect those files.
Island Reader may offer optional iCloud sync for supported app data such as reading progress, settings, highlights, notes, and library metadata. Synced data is stored in your private iCloud account under your Apple ID. luyaolab does not have access to your private iCloud data.
You can control iCloud availability through Apple system settings.
Island Reader offers subscriptions and one-time purchases through Apple In-App Purchases. Apple handles payment details; we do not receive your payment card information. We use RevenueCat to verify purchases, restore access and manage membership entitlements. RevenueCat processes a generated app-user identifier, transaction and product identifiers, purchase history and subscription status, together with technical app/device information. Versions of Island Reader that include Google Firebase Analytics use it to understand usage and improve importing, reading, listening and membership flows.
